#RIGA_IFF_EXPO: In Search of Cinemas Lost

Zigmārs Jauja is an architect, a photographer, a researcher and damn good storyteller. The festival team approached him with a proposal to do a physical exhibition of his research into the small cinema tradition of Riga city after he published an illustrated article in the Latvian bookazine Benji Knewman. The result is a delicate piece of work that combines history, sociology and architecture in very broad sense and with a beautiful poetic element to the way the man approaches the phenomenon of people watching films. Come to the opening and meet the Zigmārs himself and the team behind the project – members of the Riga IFF and the hosts – one of the last and grandest cinema houses in Riga – Splendid Palace.
