SHORT RIGA
As an individual department within this year’s festival the team behind the wittily titled SHORT RIGA have devised a remarkable feat – altogether three competitions of new shorts from around the world, Baltic student films and a separate category for music videos. Showcased within three respective programmes SHORT RIGA will take over the newly established small theater KINO BIZE as well as organise workshops and host an award ceremony.
Célestine arrives in a sleepy village from Paris to start a job as a chambermaid with the Lanlaires, a bourgeois couple. The young woman is received by a harassing host, his sadistic wife, and a cold treatment from the rest of the servants.

Upon returning to his wife and children, Brandt realizes that his infatuation with Anita was just an intermezzo in his life. This emotionally nuanced drama by Gustaf Molander became the starting point of Ingrid Bergman’s Hollywood career – three years later she reprised the role of Anita in the Hollywood remake of the film, produced by David O. Selznick.
